Sunday 20th April 2025: The Ride to Aunty Rachel's

Image
Today the plan was to ride from Grandad's house in Ware to Aunty Rachel's house in Waltham Abbey, about 15 miles away! Checking the bike Ready for the off... And away we go The weather was fine today. Grandad and I rode to the River Lea then headed south along the river's towpath.  Me on the River Lea towpath Stopping to watch one of the canal boats pass through this lock. Into the lead... At one point I got a bit ahead of Grandad - I'm the small dot just visible to the left and ahead of those two people on the towpath. Once we were past Enfield Lock we crossed over the River Lea then made our way to the Gunpowder Park and rode through it to Aunty Rachel's house where mummy and Owen were waiting for us. All together we cycled 15.1 miles today, my longest ride ever!

Saturday 30th October 2023: To the Duck Pond and Beyond!

Grandad came over with his bike, Owen and I got our bikes out too and after waving goodbye to mummy the three of us set off for the duck pond at about 2.15. We rode there and back - it was about 1.5 miles in all. The Biker Boys On Our Way Me and Owen Owen at the tyres Me The Duck Pond route Owen then stayed at home while me and Grandad set off for a longer ride. It was back to just past the railway station then we turned right onto the off-road footpath through the fields. It was a bit bumpy and slow. Off over the fields   A bit further on we came to a stony track where Grandad got a puncture and had to take the back wheel off his bike to fix it. I helped by pumping the tyre up. The stony track Pumping Grandad's tyre up When the puncture was fixed we carried on but Grandad fell off his bike when his shoelace got caught in his pedal. He was alright though. A bit further on we came to a bridleway which was much easier to ride along. Grandad had told mummy we'd be back by 5.00 but...
